Embellishment workshop with Suzie Brown

A chance to make something in macramé and combine it with the process of embellishment through use of a heat transfer press, sewing, gluing, threading, knotting with a variety of other materials on hand. Participants can create a piece of work using construction and embellishment techniques to take home.

Suitable for ages 5 plus.

Emily Myers

Pottery and throwing with Emily Meyers

A mixture of demonstrations and some hands on teaching, including clay preparation (spiral wedging), throwing pots on a wheel and manipulation of pots at the leather hard stage. This could include faceting, carving and flattening pots, which are all techniques Emily uses in her own studio practice. Participants will have the chance to throw a pot themselves in this lively workshop.

Suitable for ages 8 and upwards. 8 participants per workshop.

Using a pre prepared mood board Eileen will show how you can gain inspiration from either a still life collection of objects, for example flowers, kitchen objects. The session will involve turning drawings into graphic, colourful silhouette surface patterns, thereby enabling the group to create their own individual work.

Glass with Julie Coakley

Create your own Glass Composition using Bullseye Glass. Under the guidance of Blind Glass Artist Julie Coakley. Following a full demonstration participants will be encouraged to design create their own work of art. These masterpieces will then be fired in Julie’s kiln and then collected from the Discovery Centre the following week.

Unless otherwise stated the workshops are limited to 10 people per workshop

Cost - £3.00 for children and young people and £5.00 for adults Family tickets for 2 children plus one parent £8.00 per workshop
