Making Space is working with four craft artists who will be out and about in Hampshire in the lead up to the Making It event. The aim of both projects is to involve communities in the experience of taking part, handing materials, watching makers making, to ask questions, reflect and contribute to discussions.

Making It Education

Making It Education is designed to enable pupils and teachers to work with basketry and ceramics and explore the value of learning through making. Pupils with disabilities from Osborne School in Winchester will be working with Tim Johnson, basket maker, and pupils from Hulbert School in Waterlooville will be working with Julian Belmont, ceramicist.

Making It Outreach

Making It Outreach aims to create a making space in a non-arts venue where the making and creative process is experienced by different audiences.

Deryn Relph, knit designer, and Sarah Macrae, jeweller will bring their studio practice into a public space to stimulate curiosity, conversations and exchange ideas.

Sarah Macrae will be based in Petersfield Library from 1-3 September.

Julian Belmonte will be at Hulbert Junior School, Waterlooville 10, 11 and 20 September.

Deryn Relph will be based at the Meridian Centre in Havant from 21-23 September.

Tim Johnson will be at Osbourne School, Winchester from 25-27 September.

This work will be exhibited at City Space Winchester Discovery Centre. Click here for more information about the exhibition.
